As BJP leads in Madhya Pradesh, Union Minister and party leader Jyotiraditya Scindia expressed confidence in the people of the state and asserted that the party will form the government with an absolute majority.

“We knew that as far as Madhya Pradesh is concerned, given the public welfare schemes of our double engine government – people’s blessings will be with us… I am confident that their blessings will be with the BJP and we will form the government with absolute majority,” Scindia said.

As of 10 am, the Bhartiya Janata Party is leading with 151 out of the total 230 seats while the Indian National Congress currently has 77 seats.

Postal ballots were counted between 8 am and 8.30 am, after which the counting of votes through EVMs began in the presence of officials and political parties’ authorised agents, he said.

The results for the Assembly elections 2023 in four states – Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Telangana are set to be announced on Sunday (3 November).

As per the latest trends, BJP is ahead in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Congress, while Congress is leading in Telangana.

Assembly elections were held in five states – Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Mizoram last month which is being viewed as the semi-final to the crucial 2024 Lok Sabha elections which is due in less than six months.

The counting of votes for Mizoram Assembly Elections 2023, which was initially set for 3 December, has been postponed to 4 December, as Sunday holds a special significance for the people of the state, a Christian-majority state.
