Elon Musk says he will give $1 billion to Wikipedia if they change its name to THIS

Elon Musk has expressed his desire to give out a billion dollars to Wikipedia. Although, he will be donating the money only on a very specific condition. If Wikipedia changes its name to “D**kpedia.” The tech billionaire said, “I will give them a billion dollars if they change their name to D**kpedia.” He further said that Wikipedia could change its name to the original one yet again once they have raised the money. However, he asserted that they must keep his suggested name for a minimum of one year.

Prior to this, the business tycoon had shared another post where he rehashed Wikipedia’s phrases “Wikipedia is not for sale” and “a personal appeal from Jimmy Wales (co-founder of Wikipedia).” He further showed concern regarding the Wikimedia Foundation’s motives for wanting such a huge amount of money.”Have you ever wondered why the Wikimedia Foundation wants so much money? It certainly isn’t needed to operate Wikipedia. You can literally fit a copy of the entire text on your phone! So, what’s the money for? Inquiring minds want to know …”

Refreshing your memory, back in May of this year, the founder of Wikipedia, Jimmy Wales slammed Elon Musk for censoring critics of the Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The move came just before the country’s presidential election. Jimmy Wales accused the Twitter head of compromising free speech by complying with Turkey’s demands to restrict content. He also claimed that Wikipedia faced the same situation, however, they did not put any such restrictions.

Reacting to this, Elon Musk questioned the choices available. He suggested that it was a choice between either throttling Twitter entirely or limiting access to certain tweets.

It must be noted here that Turkey has blocked Turkey for the last two years because of the country’s norms allowing the ban of sites that are seen as a threat to national security.
